With the NASCAR Xfinity Series showing off during practice and qualifying, Chase Elliott has been surprised with the product in Chicago. This is an experiment, live before our eyes. This track seems to have been laid out just right and there is just enough room to really make this an interesting course.

For Chase Elliott, things look good. That is for now. Elliott still hasn’t turned a lap on the track and will likely have his own opinion of the course once he makes some laps. However, from what he has seen it looks to be all good.

Jeff Gluck of The Athletic tweeted Elliott’s feelings about the course after speaking with him on Saturday.

According to Gluck, Elliott is “pleasantly surprised” with the course as a whole.

“Super impressed…props to NASCAR and all the people who put this place together,” Elliott said.

Chase Elliott is one of the best road course drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series. He will be one of the drivers to watch this weekend as he attempts to win his way into the playoffs. After back-to-back top-5 finishes, this could be the race where Elliott breaks through.

With every lap that they turn and every second they spend on the track, these drivers are going to learn. When they pick up on things, the racing will just get better. Chase Elliott seems to be a little optimistic after watching the lower series make their way around the track.

Chase Elliott needs to win a race, badly

Chicago might just be the place where we look back and say, “This is when Chase Elliott turned his season around.” He needs it. His whole team knows it, we know it. However, it is easier said than done when it comes to winning in the Cup Series.

The Chicago Street Race is not your usual NASCAR event. That doesn’t mean we can’t predict what will happen. The road course drivers in the Xfinity Series are near the top of the board in practice. So, we should expect the good road course drivers in the Cup Series to also perform well.

Ahead of the weekend, Chase Elliott was one of four favorites to take the win. While that is a good start, he has to get on the track and prove it now. The only issue is that he has to race against those other three favorites, right?

Elliott will have to beat out the likes of Tyler Reddick, Kyle Larson, Martin Truex Jr., and others if he wants to win the inaugural Chicago Street Race. He likes what he has seen so far, we’ll see if that applies when he gets on the track for himself.
