Chase Young reacts to former Ohio State teammates getting drafted

At one point, Ohio State had Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave and Jameson Williams in its wide receiver room. They all went back-to-back-to-back in the 2022 NFL Draft, and Chase Young knows what they all can bring to the table.

Young’s last season in Columbus was the trio’s first season with the program. He knew even back then that group was special, and even though he’ll be playing against them in the NFL, he was more than excited to see them all become first-round selections.

“Those guys came in freshman year, you just knew they were a little different,” Young told ABC’s Laura Rutledge. “Both of them played freshman year and they were cooking our ones, our juniors or seniors, freshman year. Already knew what time it was when it got to this point. And ‘Jamo,’ Jameson Williams, came from Alabama, he was at O-State, as well. Just to see all three of those guys get to this point is amazing.”

Wilson headed to the New York Jets as the No. 10 overall pick while Olave went to the New Orleans Saints at No. 11 and Williams is going to the Detroit Lions after they traded up to get him at No. 12 overall. It was quite a victory for Ohio State and wide receivers coach Brian Hartline, who played a huge role in developing all three of them with the Buckeyes.

Of course, that was before Williams transferred to Alabama, where he became a top target for Bryce Young to help lead the Crimson Tide to the national title game. Despite tearing his ACL in that game, he’s reportedly ahead of schedule with his rehab and could play for Detroit this season.

Olave and Wilson formed quite a one-two punch during their time in Columbus with Justin Fields and CJ Stroud under center, combining for more than 3,400 yards and 20 touchdowns over the last two seasons.
