Chicago Bears set to interview Ohio State OL coach Justin Frye for same position
The Chicago Bears have an interview scheduled for Wednesday with Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye for the same position, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune revealed.
Frye has been with the Buckeyes for the past three seasons. He was previously the offensive line coach at UCLA for four seasons in addition to serving as the Bruins offensive coordinator from 2019-21. He also had stints as the OL coach at Boston College (2013-17) and Temple (2011-12).
Despite all this experience at the college level, however, Frye has never coached in the NFL. That could change for the former Indiana offensive lineman, who is just 41 years old.
Under Frye’s direction, Ohio State ranked tied for seventh in the FBS this past season with only one sack allowed per game. The Buckeyes also averaged 5.0 yards per carry to rank 27th in the country.
Thanks in large part to its offensive line and rushing attack, Ohio State won the national championship. Bringing in a coach like Justin Frye could be just what the Bears need to get their own offense back on track.
Chicago is coming off of a 5-12 finish this past season and fired coach Matt Eberflus midway through the year. They hired Ben Johnson as his replacement are now doing the work to fill out the remainder of their staff.
The Bears drafted Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick this past season but had a hard time protecting their quarterback of the future. They allowed a total of 68 sacks this past season, the most in the league.

That in mind, finding the right offensive line coach will be paramount in turning things around. In addition to Frye, it was also reported that Chicago will interview Tulane offensive line coach Dan Roushar, who previously worked for 10 seasons with the New Orleans Saints.
Dallas Cowboys hire Matt Eberflus as defensive coordinator
The Dallas Cowboys have officially hired Matt Eberflus as defensive coordinator. This comes after Eberflus spent the last three seasons as the Chicago Bears head coach.
Eberflus takes over for Mike Zimmer who was the Cowboys defensive coordinator for one season. The 54-year-old is no stranger to Dallas as he was the Cowboys linebackers coach from 2011 to 2017. Eberflus was also the Cowboys passing game coordinator during his last two seasons with the team.
n 2018, the Indianapolis Colts hired Eberflus as defensive coordinator. During his four seasons in Indianapolis, the Colts had three winning seasons and reached the playoffs twice.
Following the 2021 season, Eberflus was named the 17th head coach of the Bears. It was not a strong run for Eberflus as the Bears finished last in the NFC North in 2021 and 2022. Chicago fired Eberflus on Nov. 29 when the team was 4-8 on the season.
