Chicago Bears set to interview Pete Carroll for head coaching job, per report
The Chicago Bears are set to interview Pete Carroll for their open head coach position, ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported. Carroll previously spent 14 years as the coach of the Seattle Seahawks from 2010-23, leading them to two Super Bowl appearances with one title in that span.
If hired, Carroll would replace Matt Eberflus, whom the team let go in late November. Thomas Brown took over as the interim head coach as Chicago finished with a 5-12 record.
Carroll compiled a 137-89 record during his time in Seattle. He also took the team to the playoffs a total of 10 times and had a 10-9 postseason record.
The Bears have missed the playoffs in each of the past four seasons and have only two postseason appearances total since 2011. Bringing in a coach with plenty of experience in that area could be what they need to finally break out of their slump.

Chicago selected quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft this offseason and is focused on building the team’s future around him. Carroll’s experience working with Russell Wilson in Seattle could also be a reason the team has interest in him, as he could bring along Williams’ development.
Before taking over the Seahawks in 2010, Carroll was the coach at USC from 2001-09, winning two national championships with the Trojans. He also was an assistant in the NFL for many years before that, working with teams such as the Patriots, 49ers, Jets, Vikings and more.
