Washington Huskies cornerback Kyler Gordon was selected early in the second round on Friday evening, with the Chicago Bears selecting him with the No. 39 overall pick. Gordon was still in the NFL Draft green room, letting him go out there and walk across the stage after hearing his name announced.

Sitting there with his family, Gordon explained what it meant to be around them as he got drafted. You could tell how emotional the new Chicago cornerback was, ready to get started in the NFL.

“With my family, it’s just a crazy time to be there with everybody that supported me from the bottom,” Gordon said. “I’m so thankful, I’m blessed.”

Gordon was also asked what he is going to bring to the Bears, as he was the team’s first pick in this year’s draft. He said work is going to be put in but wants to build solid relationships with the people inside of the organization.

“We’re going to bring a whole lot on energy,” said Gordon. “We’re going to turn it up. I want to be a guy who can come in here and produce and just be a great person on this team. I’m so excited and I am thankful to be in this organization with a bunch of great people that I love. I’m excited to get to know them more and build this relationship more with this team.”
