The hits just keep coming for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney.

Since being traded by the New York Giants to the Chiefs, the wide receiver has been far from quiet. While his play on the field has left some to be desired occasionally, his flashes remind the world why he was drafted in the first round.

However, his performance on Thursday made him a household name for all the wrong reasons. Toney was clowned throughout the night on X — formerly known as Twitter — for the multiple drops he had in the Chiefs’ loss to the Detroit Lions, and he doesn’t want to see any of the jokes.

After his rough night, Toney deleted his account, as the wide receiver who’s usually quick to bite back had nothing left to say.

Over recent months, Toney has gone after fans of the Giants, his previous team, letting them know how much happier he is in Kansas City. We’ll see if his honeymoon continues now after his performance on Thursday.

Of course, Toney didn’t single-handedly lose the Chiefs the game, but Kansas City certainly might be sitting at 1-0 right now if he made some catches.

Nevertheless, it’s a long season, and Kadarius Toney will have his shot at redemption, as long as he stays on the field, which has been a problem for him, as well.

Patrick Mahomes on Chiefs’ Week 1 loss to Lions: ‘Embarrassing for me’

Continuing, Patrick Mahomes doesn’t often lose in Week 1. In fact, it usually doesn’t happen at all, as Thursday was the first time he suffered a season-opening defeat during his spectacular NFL career.

Before Thursday’s 21-20 loss to the Lions, Mahomes was 5-0. Sure, he was without tight end Travis Kelce, his best friend and favorite receiver. And Chris Jones, who is in the midst of a long holdout, wasn’t on the field to anchor the Kansas City defense.

Mahomes wasn’t accepting excuses, especially on a night in which the Chiefs unfurled their new Super Bowl banner only to lose.

“It’s embarrassing for me to lose any time,” said the reigning NFL MVP. “Like I said after the (Super Bowl) ring ceremony, I’ve moved on to the next season.”

So yes, the Chiefs officially moved on to next season. So did the Lions, which finished 2022 with wins eight of their last 10 games. Check that, it’s now nine of their last 11.

“Obviously, it’s cool for the fans to be able to see the banner drop in at Arrowhead Stadium,” Mahomes told reporters in his post-game presser. “But this is a whole new year. And I think I know that and we are trying to win another Super Bowl and this is obviously not the way we wanted to start. So any time I lose, I’m embarrassed. So I’m going to try to get better so I don’t lose more as the season goes on.”
