Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy sues ex-fiancée after domestic violence arrest, alleges extortion and abuse

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has been battling legal issues off the field this offseason. Those issues have stemmed from charges brought against him in early March for the alleged assault of a family member, which would be dropped the next day.
Now, Worthy is reportedly responding to those claims through the legal system. Xavier Worthy is now suing his ex-fiancée Tia Jones, alleging extortion and abuse.
In court documents, Worthy claims that Jones became violent and tried to extort him. This began, he claims, after he found in February that she had cheated on him. At that time, it’s being claimed that he asked her to leave his home and offered her an apartment for some time, but she refused and “became enraged and engaged in a series of abusive, extortive efforts.”
Among the things Worthy alleges Jones did was destroy his game room, breaking his desk and PlayStation 5 in the process. On top of that, it’s claimed she scratched him and pulled out chunks of his hair. All of this came on March 7th, the same day that Worthy was initially arrested. While he was in custody, Worthy further alleged that she destroyed or stole more than $150,000 worth of his property.
Furthermore, it’s alleged by Worthy that she made up a story of repeated abuse. That was done in a petition to get a protective order against him.

The lawsuit is for $250,000 worth of damages. It also goes on to claim that, beyond the physical and property damage, the incident also harmed “his credibility, veracity, and reputation” in the public. Jones’ attorney, however, has yet to comment on the matter.
Xavier Worthy was a first round pick of Kansas City out of Texas in the 2024 NFL Draft. That came after he had an excellent three-season run with the Longhorns, which saw him make 197 receptions for 2,755 yards and 26 receiving touchdowns in his career. He picked up in the NFL and looked like one of the best rookies in the entire sport during last season. Catching passes from Patrick Mahomes, Worthy had 59 receptions for 638 yards and six touchdowns in his rookie season. The Chiefs even made the Super Bowl, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles, but Worthy did have an impressive two touchdown receptions in the game.
As of now, everything in the lawsuit is alleged. The legal system will need time to sort out this unfortunate situation, though the couple of since separated over the incident.
