Four Chilean nationals were arrested earlier this month in Clark County, Ohio in connection to the burglary that occurred at the home of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow last month, per a report from Taylor Weiter of WCPO 9.

The four men were discovered by police in possession of an old LSU shirt and a Bengals hat. Authorities believe these items were stolen in a Hamilton County burglary on Dec. 9, the same night Burrow’s home in Anderson Township was broken into. At the time of the burglary, Burrow was in Arlington playing the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football.

According to an affidavit, an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper discovered the items during a Jan. 10 traffic stop. The trooper pulled over a car with Florida tags after the driver committed a lane violation. Investigators had been conducting surveillance on the occupants, who were seen leaving a Fairborn La Quinta Hotel carrying luggage. Three of the men gave fake IDs during the traffic stop. The men were later identified as Jordan Sanchez, Bastian Morales, Sergio Cabello and Alexander Chavez. All four were later found to have been illegally in the country after overstaying their permissions.

FBI issues stern warning to pro athletes after recent string home burglaries to Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes etc.

OSHP found two automatic center punch tools in the glove box during a search of the car. A window at Burrow’s home was shattered and his bedroom “ransacked” in the burglary.

“Chavez provided his real name and told investigators he purchased the glass-breaking tool at Home Depot but did not provide a reason for the purchase,” Weiter wrote.

All four men are charged with engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, participation in a criminal gang, possessing criminal tools and obstructing official business. They remain in the Clark County Jail.

The arrests are the latest in the ongoing investigation into multiple burglaries at multi-million dollar homes. At least six South American groups have been arrested, five of which are Chilean, per the affidavit.

The FBI previously issued a warning to professional athletes following a string of organized burglaries that targeted professionals. The homes of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce were broken into within days of each other in October. Burrow, Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis Jr. and Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin have all also seen their homes ransacked.

“These homes are targeted for burglary due to the perception they may have high-end goods like designer handbags, jewelry, watches, and cash,” FBI officials said. “While many burglaries occur while homes are unoccupied, some burglaries occur while residents are home. In these instances, individuals are encouraged to seek law enforcement help. And avoid engaging with criminals, as they may be armed or use violence if confronted.”
