Chris Buescher posts picture of FireKeepers 400 trophy strapped in by seatbelt
Chris Buescher doesn’t want anything happening to his FireKeepers Casino 400 trophy. The NASCAR driver, who claimed the checkered flag at Michigan International Speedway on Monday, is taking extra cautious measures to ensure its safety.
The FireKeepers Casino 400 race began on Sunday but was delayed until Monday because of inclement weather. Buescher reached victory lane for the second straight weekend, also claiming a win at Richmond Raceway.
Following the conclusion of Monday’s race, Buescher took to social media to share an image of his new trophy. And to make sure nothing happened to the prize, the driver buckled up the trophy:
Winning one race on the NASCAR Cup Series circuit is an incredibly difficult thing to achieve. Hitting victory lane in back-to-back weeks? That’s an impressive accomplishment.
And it’s helped Buescher in terms of the playoff race and the driver standings entering the final stretch of the regular season. He sits 11th in points following his two victories on the track.
Buescher also owns five finishes in the top-five and 10 inside the top-10.
So, while he’s put together a pretty solid season, Buescher has easily elevated his status over the last two weeks. And he seems to be enjoying the hell out of the victories.
Chris Buescher talks about win at Michigan International
Buescher has been dominant in the Cup Series over the last two weeks. Rattling off back-to-back victories on the track is no easy feat.
Following his win in the FireKeepers Casino 400, Buescher talked about the nail-biting finish, holding off Martin Truex Jr. for the victory.

“This Castrol Mustang was so good in practice, qualifying,” Buescher said, per jayski.com. “Gave me a great car again. Had to work for that one too, hard racing at the end.
“Martin was very clean with me. I appreciate that. Get to go to Victory Lane two weeks in a row. That’s pretty awesome.”
Could Buescher do the unthinkable and make it three-straight victories? There will be a change of pace this week as the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Verizon 200.
Although traditionally an oval track, NASCAR has turned IMS into a road course to add a new element of intrigue to the schedule. And though Buescher is on fire recently, it might make it more difficult for a third-straight trip to Victory Lane.
This weekend’s race from Indianapolis begins at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 13. Coverage airs on NBC.
