Chris Buescher reflects on 'unbelievable' summer run after winning at Daytona
Three wins in the last five races and Chris Buescher is on top of the NASCAR world after the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona. This win catapulted Buescher further up the rankings and further up the list of championship favorites.
Given the wild ride that Chris Buescher and RFK Racing have been on since winning at Richmond, it really does feel unbelievable. After his win at Bristol, it felt like Buescher had more to give. Now, he’s proven it three times in just five weeks with checkered flags at three very different tracks.
Talking to the media after the race, Buescher couldn’t believe it. You can tell all of this is still settling in for the Texas native.
“Yeah, unbelievable at this point,” Buescher said. “Yeah, there’s been a lot going on. Certainly talked about it after even Richmond itself, but surely after Michigan. Talked about kind of hitting our momentum at the right time. This is another big step in the right direction.
“I think first and foremost this was as much an RFK win and Brad’s win as it was ours. That was the exact push we needed for the entire two laps coming back to the checkered. Wouldn’t be sitting up here without him and us executing that way.”
A big win for a driver who seems to be coming on at the right moment.
Brad Keselowski might be the best pusher in the Cup Series on drafting tracks. If you have him behind you, it’s going to be a great push, or you’re both spinning out and into the field. This time, Keselowski kept it cool and pushed Chris Buescher and his car to the finish line.

Chris Buescher, RFK have Cup Series on notice
It is always interesting how the NASCAR season plays out. You can make all kinds of predictions and educated guesses. However, you never know what is around the corner, let alone, 30+ weeks later.
I’m not sure a lot of people had Chris Buescher winning three races this season. Heck, even RFK didn’t see it coming. You know you have fast cars and good chances, but you have to make it actually happen, that’s the hard part.
Two cars in the playoffs this season, RFK has a real chance to make some noise. The goal is likely to get as deep into the postseason as possible for Buescher. For Keselowski, searching for a win is still the top task.
Chris Buescher, coming on hot at the right moment. How much longer will this momentum last for the 17 team and RFK Racing?
