Chris Buescher shares jaw-dropping video angle somehow avoiding massive wreck during Ally 400 overtime

The weekend at Nashville was eventful, and the Ally 400 went to five overtimes, a Cup Series record. Chris Buescher was in it with a chance but finished in fifth.

He also had a narrow escape from one of the more harrowing wrecks on the afternoon.

Buescher posted a video after the race showing his dash cam taking us through the wreck. He makes solid contact with the 31 car of Daniel Hemric, but avoids the much more perpendicular strike to the 42 car of John Hunter Nemechek. Check it out below.

Though he didn’t get the win himself, Chris Buescher did secure a top-five finish and the 37 Cup points he earned with it.

Had things played out a little differently, he said, it could have been a very different outcome.

“We made some good decisions a lot earlier that should have put us in a good spot had we had some green flag racing and some opportunities to do something,” Chris Buescher said. “Just didn’t play out there with all those cautions. It really took out a lot of our strategy, I guess. Obviously in a great place but all those cautions just let a few people stretch it out even more.”

Denny Hamlin addresses tough racing with Kyle Larson

Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson have been going at it on the track for the last few weeks now, and Sunday at Nashville was no different.

The two bumped each other back and forth a bit just before the end of the second stage, and they’d come into contact again later in the race.

Within seconds of an overtime restart with Hamlin in the lead and Larson directly behind him, Larson appeared to get into the back of Hamlin, seemingly boosting him forward temporarily. But Larson quickly lost control of his vehicle and ended up going up the track, cracking the back left bumper of Ross Chastain and sending Chastain spinning into the wall.

Hamlin was asked whether he was upset with Larson’s racing after the race.

“I thought it was fine. We were messing around with each other, like we were last week,” Hamlin said in a post-race interview on the track. “We were battling for third right there on the stage and he ran me up, which was all good. I ran him up last week a little bit. On the restart with the 22 (Joey Logano), the 22 was mad at me, but the 5 tried to clean us out there, and I think he tried to clean us out at the end there but got the 1, so it all worked out.”
