Chris Buescher wins FireKeepers Casino 400 for back-to-back checkered flags
Once again, Chris Buescher is your NASCAR Cup Series winner. This time in the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway. Buescher got it done in Richmond on the short track last week. This week, he gets it done on the 2-mile track of Michigan. What a month it has been for RFK Racing in the Cup Series.
Nine times in a row, Ford has made it to victory lane at Michigan. Denny Hamlin named Chris Buescher as one to beat, and he was. Even Martin Truex Jr. couldn’t catch Buescher in the end, despite having the fastest car this entire weekend.
Teammate and team owner Brad Keselowski finished in fourth. Buescher gets the win on Monday. Two on the season, two in a row. Is the 17 coming into form right before the playoffs?
This came down to an awesome battle between Martin Truex Jr. and Chris Buescher. With 10 laps to go, it was uncertain who would come out on top. Buescher made such a good move in traffic to block Truex Jr. from passing him, and from there, he started to pull away a bit.
Truex Jr. would battle back once traffic lightened up and the battle was back on with just five laps to go in the FireKeepers Casino 400. Truex continued to be the fastest car on the day and all he had to do was get by Buescher. He just couldn’t get it done. Monday Martin was denied another postponed win.

Chris Buescher carries momentum as season heads into playoffs
Just three more races separate the NASCAR Cup Series from the playoffs. Like a college basketball team going on a run in February, this is the time of the year when you want to be winning races. Especially when you get it done on two very different tracks.
With how strong Chris Buescher is on road courses, could he be sizing up another win in the next two weeks? Momentum is key in NASCAR and it looks like Buescher and his boss Keselowski both have it right now.
Let’s remember, Buescher has finished in the top-10 in the last seven road course races. Eight of the last nine if you want to go back to 2021 Charlotte Roval. He has finished P12 and P10 at the Indy Road Course in the last two seasons. As for Watkins Glen, Buescher was P9 there a year ago.
This race saw a lot of weird wrecks, mostly on Sundays. Hendrick Motorsports had an awful weekend with Chase Elliott, William Byron, and Alex Bowman wrecking out of the race at different times. Kyle Busch was also an early victim to an incident involving Ryan Blaney.
