Chiefs star Chris Jones is sticking with Kansas City. At least, those were his plans on Wednesday as he partied with his teammates during the Super Bowl parade.

Jones, who was one of the stars who addressed the huge crowd, yelled into the mic “for those that want Chris Jones gone, I ain’t going nowhere, baby! I will be here next year and the year after!”

Jones was supposed to be a free agent. He even sat out training camp last season. But it sounds like he plans on being a Chief for awhile.

Chris Jones’ agent jokingly tweets to cut off the liquor

But Chris Jones agent said otherwise. Michael Katz watched as Jones blurted out his intentions, then suggested his client and the rest of the Chiefs might’ve been overserved. He tweeted “cut them off bartenders!!! Too much.”

Jones and Chiefs went through contract standoff last year

Last year, Jones celebrated with the Chiefs, then skipped everything else. He still had a year on his contract, but he wanted a new deal. The standoff continued through training camp and into the first week of the regular season. Finally, sides agreed to a one-year deal worth $19.5 million.

If the Chiefs and Jones do stay together, it will be expensive. A franchise tag would be more than $32 million for the season. That’s the most expensive franchise tag in NFL history. If the Chiefs sign Smith to a longer term contract, expect the numbers to approach what the 49ers paid Nick Bosa. The San Fran star received a five-year, $170 million contract to make him the highest paid NFL defender in history.

Of course, Jones might’ve been caught up in the moment. The Chiefs let loose in the Super Bowl parade. And they probably were doing some day drinking. Several players addressed the crowd. It add ended with Travis Kelce grabbing the mic and attempting to sing the Garth Brooks classic “Friends in Low Places.”
