Chris Olave injury update: Saints WR's brother reveals latest on condition after hospitalization
On Sunday, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave suffered a concussion in a massive collision against the Carolina Panthers. Olave was motionless on the ground following the hit and was taken off the field on a stretcher. Shortly after the injury, Josh Olave provided an update on his brother’s condition.
“Bro just called, he’s up and active,” Josh Olave, Chris’ brother, wrote on X.
Chris Olave has now suffered six known concussions since 2020, including another this season. Olave, 24, also suffered a concussion in the Saints’ Week 6 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He did not play in New Orleans’ next game against the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football. Olave returned last Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, hauling in eight receptions for 107 yards.
At one point during the game, he took a shoulder to his helmet area and came out to be evaluated for a concussion. He returned to play in the rest of the game. Unfortunately, Olave’s injury was too severe this time and he was taken to the Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.

On Thursday, Chris Olave said he was considering wearing a Guardian Cap moving forward. He wore the Guardian Cap at Wednesday’s practice, which NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said reduces concussions by 52%. However, Olave was not wearing the Guardian Cap on Sunday.
He came into the game as the Saints’ leading receiver with 31 receptions for 387 yards and a score in seven games. Before leaving the game with his concussion, Olave recorded one reception for 13 yards. The Saints were unable to ultimately escape with a win against the Panthers, falling 23-22.
