Chris Olave injury update: Saints WR shares message after hospitalization in Panthers game
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave shared an update on his health after sustaining his second concussion of the season on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. On X, Olave said he was going to be okay and thanked everyone for their support.
“Thank God Preciate all the love & prayers Ima be aight,” Olave wrote in the social media post.
Olave was carted off the field and was taken to the hospital after sustaining the concussion. The team later announced that the former Ohio State receiver was “discharged from the hospital and will return to New Orleans with the team later this evening.”
Olave was hit in the head and neck area by Panthers safety Xavier Woods while attempting to catch a pass from Saints QB Derek Carr in the first quarter. He went to the ground and did not get up, leading to the medical staff attending to him and putting him onto a cart.

Chris Olave has had multiple concussions in his NFL career
Earlier this year, Olave missed the Saints’ Week 7 game against the Denver Broncos after sustaining a concussion the previous week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Overall, the 24-year-old has been put into the NFL’s concussion protocol four times in his three-year career and missed two games with concussions. During his rookie season, Olave sustained a concussion in Week 5 and missed the following game. He also did not play in the Week 12 game against the Atlanta Falcons last year because of a concussion but played the following week.
Olvae recently talked about switching helmets instead of wearing a Guardian Cap in games. “I just felt like I had changed my helmet to the best helmet so the hit I took in the game, it didn’t really hurt as much as it did with the other helmet,” Olave said this week, per ESPN. “Once I switched helmets, I felt like I’d be good without the Guardian Cap.”
