A big move up to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for Christian Rose. Niece Motorsports is picking up the former collegiate baseball player. Rose spent the last two seasons in the ARCA Menards Series with AM Racing and Ford.

Christian Rose will not only make a change in series, but he’s also moving to the Chevy family. He has raced Chevys in the past, but this is a big promotion. Rose has finished 3rd and 5th in the ARCA championship in the last two seasons.

Niece Motorsports has a lot of momentum going right now. The all-star truck they had last season that featured a win from Ross Chastain at Darlington finished 10th in the points.

Rose will pilot the No. 44 and join Matt Mills and Kaden Honeycutt full-time at Niece. The team usually has a multi-driver truck as well. It remains to be seen if they will field a fourth full-time entry or not.

Christian Rose is a West Virginia native. He played baseball at University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. In his ARCA career he was known for his bright and colorful paint schemes for West Virginia tourism. Perhaps he will bring those colorful and fun schemes to the Truck Series.

As an athlete, I think Rose is an interesting prospect. A former Division I baseball player, he knows what hard work is. I think that it has also allowed him to learn quickly behind the wheel.

He is older and he got a later start in racing than many others. In 2023 he was given a couple of starts in the Truck Series with AM Racing. He has a career-best finish of P16 at Phoenix.

Niece Motorsports should be fun to watch in 2025

During their time in the Craftsman Truck Series, Niece Motorsports has been a balancing act. It is a really good place for drivers to develop their talents, but it doesn’t always pan out. For every Carson Hocevar you have a Justin Fontaine. No offense to Justin, but it is what it is.

We have seen drivers like Hocevar and Ross Chastain work out at Niece. Springboard themselves into the Cup Series with a good season or two in these trucks. If you ask me, Kaden Honeycutt is the most likely driver of this bunch to end up in that position.

But even for a short-track driver like Honeycutt, it won’t be easy. The Truck Series has a very diverse schedule this season. But in his limited time in the series he has made the most of it. In 2024 he had six top-10s and two top-5s in only 14 starts.

I really like the roster that Niece Motorsports is putting together. Christian Rose, Matt Mills, and Kaden Honeycutt are three drivers that will represent the organization well. We will have to wait and see how they each perform on the track.
