Christian Watson injury update: NFL insider shares latest on Packers WR’s ankle
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson just received good news about his ankle injury. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Watson has a mild ankle sprain and is “unlikely” to land on injured reserve.
The news comes after Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that Watson will be “out a week or so” after suffering the injury during Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. Watson’s injury happened during the second quarter when his leg got caught underneath him while attempting to catch a Jordan Love pass that was intercepted by Vikings linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill.
Watson was selected by the Packers in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft after having a strong career at North Dakota State. In his rookie season, Watson caught 41 passes for 611 yards and seven touchdowns. He only played half of the 2023 season due to injuries and finished the year with 28 receptions for 422 yards and five touchdowns.

Jordan Love sent inspiring message to Christian Watson last year
During the 2023 season, Love spoke to reporters about his trust in Watson as he was going through his struggles. “My message to Christian is just keep your confidence, don’t let any of that stuff ever [make] your confidence waver or anything like that,” Love said, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “I got complete trust in Christian. I know he knows this, but I trust all my receivers. The ball’s going to come out regardless. Just keep that confidence.
“When you’re losing, a lot of people would point fingers and things like that. It happens. It comes with the territory. He’s a professional. He knows that. That’s everybody in the locker room. I told him to keep that confidence up, keep making plays, and move on to the next one.”
