Just in time for the start of the training camp portion of the NFL offseason Pro Football Focus (PFF) has unveiled its list of the top 50 players in the NFL. And coming in at number 27 on the list is the NFL’s 2021 Comeback Player of the Year, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.

Burrow continued his meteoric ascension up the NFL ranks after a brief hiatus during his rookie campaign. The former LSU star and Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback delivered the Bengals to the playoffs for the first time since 2015 and coupled that with their first Super Bowl appearance in over 30 years. Not to mention he did all this with an offensive line that allowed him to finish this season as the most sacked quarterback in the NFL time, going down 51 times.

“It seems hard to believe that just a year ago everybody was just hoping a serious knee injury didn’t derail Burrow’s career. He came back significantly better and finished the 2021 season with the highest overall PFF grade (91.8) among quarterbacks, including the playoffs. Burrow looks like one of the game’s best already and will have an improved offensive line to work behind in 2022.”

From his days as a Bayou Bengal to him becoming the unquestioned leader of the Cincinnati Bengals, Burrow has consistently improved year after year. And fans of the young Cincinnati signal caller should anticipate more consistent growth in 2022 worthy of his 27 ranking.

Bengals place five players on PUP list heading into training camp

Training camp is only a few short days away for NFL teams across America. Plenty of franchises have released their list of players they have decided to place on the physically unable to perform list. The Cincinnati Bengals placed five players on the PUP list on Saturday afternoon: linebacker Joe Bachie, guard Alex Cappa, defensive end Khalid Kareem, running back Samaje Perine, and safety Brandon Wilson. Offensive tackle La’El Collins has been placed on the active/non-football injury list.

A few things to note about the physically unable to perform list. All the players on it can be activated at any time. There is no time limit on how long the player must be on the list in the preseason.

Cappa suffered a core muscle injury during OTAs. The talented right guard is a major upgrade at the position for the Bengals’ franchise. Tom Brady tried to sway him to come back to Tampa Bay for what could be his final season, but he opted to join one of the game’s brightest young stars in Cincinnati signal-caller Joe Burrow. They desperately needed to upgrade their offensive line this offseason and they did just that.
