Bengals TE CJ Uzomah makes clear statement on status entering Super Bowl 56

Despite missing practice last week, Cincinnati Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah is adamant that his injury won’t hold him back on Sunday. Cincinnati is looking for its first Super Bowl win and needs all hands on deck to take down the star-studded Rams.

“To me, I’m like I’m not missing the biggest game of my life. Right? Like, I’m not missing it,” Uzomah told reporters to kick off Super Bowl 56 week. “So that’s my approach going into every day of rehab. If I wake up, and I’m like, ‘Oh, man, it’s a little sore,’ it doesn’t matter. . . . Right when I put my feet on the ground, it’s go time. Let’s get this rehab going. Let’s do everything I can to make sure I’m ready and available to play. That’s kind of where my mind is.”

The former Auburn Tiger suffered an MCL sprain in the conference championship matchup versus Kansas City. He had two targets but no catches before exiting the game early.

An MCL sprain can have varying recovery times depending on severity. However, after the week of rest and rehab, Uzomah projected confidence in his knee on Monday.

“I feel good,” Uzomah said. “I feel really, really good.”

Uzomah had 49 catches for 493 yards and five touchdowns during the regular season. So far this postseason, he has 13 catches for 135 yards and a score.

Bengals update status of RG Jackson Carman

The Cincinnati Bengals are practicing for Super Bowl 56 without offensive lineman Jackson Carman. The former Clemson Tiger is dealing with a back injury.

Carman must have tweaked his back recently as he was able to fully participate when the team practiced on Wednesday and Thursday last week.

Due to weather, the Bengals practiced at the University of Cincinnati in their indoor facility.

Jackson Carman, a rookie second-round draft pick, played more than half the snaps for the Bengals at right guard in the AFC championship game. Cincinnati took the win in overtime over the Kansas City Chiefs.

If Carman can’t go for Cincinnati in the Super Bowl, they’re likely to go ahead with Hakeem Adeniji at right guard.
