C.J. Stroud sends message to Grant DuBose in postgame interview after scary injury, hospitalization
Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud sent support to Miami Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose who was hospitalized after a scary hit during Sunday’s game. During his postgame interview with CBS Sports, Stroud said he’s hoping DuBose will be okay.
“First I just wanna send prayers to Grant [DuBose]. Tough situation right there,” Stroud said. “Hoping that he’s okay. Praying for his recovery and he can get back on the field. Glory all goes to Jesus Christ.”
DuBose suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit with Texans safety Calen Bullock. The hit left him motionless, and DuBose received medical attention for about 11 minutes before being loaded onto a stretcher and taken off the field. He was then sent to a local hospital in Houston.
“Very unfortunate. Very tough to have seen live,” Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said following the game, per ESPN. “I’m my toughest critic when it comes to ball placement. … I just feel bad that I even put him in that situation to have gotten hit. It was tough to move on after that happened.”

More on Grant DuBose and C.J. Stroud
“It was scary,” Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill said. “Just being on the field, seeing it, and then actually seeing one of your brothers laying the way he was laying, it’s scary. People don’t understand the sacrifice that we have to make to play this game, that we put our bodies through.”
DuBose, 23, joined the Dolphins before the start of the 2024 season. This year, the former Charlotte 49ers star saw action in three games including Sunday’s matchup with the Texans. Last year, the Green Bay Packers selected DuBose in the seventh round of the draft but spent the majority of the season on the practice squad.
CJ Stroud clearly had DuBose on his mind after the game, but he was happy that the Texans won and improved to 9-5 on the year. The former Ohio State Buckeyes star did not have a monster game on Sunday, but he was efficient, completing 18 of his 26 passes for 131 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
