The No. 6 seed Clemson Tigers and No. 3 seed Baylor Bears are set to square off in the Round of 32 in their NCAA Tournament matchup in the West Region on Sunday, March 24th. Plenty of people were surprised with the way the Tigers handled the No. 11 seed New Mexico Lobos in their first-round matchup, 77-56.

Clemson (22-11 overall) is loaded with plenty of talent, there’s no question about that. But many questioned whether or not the Tigers would show up in the big dance because of their inconsistency over the years. Their biggest win this season was without a doubt, on the road against North Carolina, when P.J. Hall erupted for 25 points in an 80-76 win.

While Clemson was one of the last teams to make the field in this year’s tournament, they seem to be hitting their stride at the right time. They’ve got an excellent mix of weapons on the inside and outside, featuring guards like Joe Girard III and Chase Hunter. Then on the interior, they’ve got two of the better big men from the ACC in P.J. Hall and Ian Schieffelin. Hall earned first team All-ACC honors this season after averaging 18.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game. Simply put, he’s one of the more complete big men in the country.

Baylor jumped all over Colgate in their blowout victory in the first round as they cruised to a 92-67 beatdown. The Bears are one of the best three-point shooting teams (38.8%) in the country, ranking them top 10 in America in that category. They certainly showed it in their first game.

Baylor torched the nets and buried Colgate with an avalanche of threes they would never recover from. Baylor hit 16 of their 30 shots from beyond-the-arc, connecting on 53.3% of them. The Bears also feature multiple weapons on the offensive end, with five different players averaging at least seven field goals per game. One of the most explosive offenses in the country, they have six players that average double figures (Ja’Kobe Walter, RayJ Dennis, Jalen Bridges, Yves Missi, Langston Love, and Jayden Nunn).
