The Cleveland Browns made a big change to their coaching staff, firing offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Head coach Kevin Stefanski will remain though, despite the 3-14 season.

Pelissero made an interesting note as to what Stefanski will look for the Browns when it comes to an offensive staff. Turning back the clock, so to speak.

“Two-time NFL coach of the year Kevin Stefanski will be back, with a remodeled offensive staff that returns to the philosophy that yielded 11 wins with five different starting quarterbacks in 2023,” Pelissero wrote on Twitter.

Stefanski’s been the head coach of the Browns since 2020, going 40-44 in his time in Cleveland. He’s led the Browns to the playoffs twice, winning 11 games in 2020 and ’23.

During his first season, he led the Browns and quarterback Baker Mayfield to an AFC Wild Card win over the Pittsburgh Steelers before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round.

Cleveland Browns shake up coaching staff

As for Dorsey, he spent just one season in Cleveland following a two-year stint in Buffalo with the Bills. He was previously let go by the Bills in the middle of the 2023 season before being hired last February by the Browns.

So who do the Browns go after now? There are rumblings, per Ari Merov, that they could internally promote tight ends coach Tommy Rees. Rees, a former OC for Notre Dame and Alabama, was hired this season by Stefanski.

However, there’s expected to be a search, so it’s no guarantee Rees will be promoted for the 2025 season.

The Browns ended the season with a six game losing streak as the team never got it going in 2024. With Deshaun Watson’s struggles and injuries, Cleveland was practically left without a quarterback, sans the quick spark Jameis Winston gave them. Stefanski is coming back for 2025, but it’ll be interesting to see how Cleveland manages to rebuild and compete next season.

Going into Sunday, the Browns actually hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
