Former Oklahoma star Mike Woods feared to have torn Achilles in offseason workout with Deshaun Watson
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Mike Woods‘ preparation for his second season may have been cut short by a major injury this week. ESPN reporter Josina Anderson shared via sources on Tuesday that the Browns fear Woods suffered a torn Achilles while working out with his quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Woods’ status has not yet been confirmed by the Browns but Anderson reported tests are still being reviewed for an official diagnosis. The former Oklahoma star and Watson were working out in Houston at the time of the injury.
Following a rookie season with five catches for 45 yards, the 6-foot-1 wideout could be facing a recovery timeline that sidelines him for the majority of the 2023 season.
After the initial report broke, Woods shared a positive message on Twitter.
“Odds never define the kid!” the former Sooners receiver tweeted.
The Browns drafted Woods in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He went No. 202 overall after one season at Oklahoma and three seasons at Arkansas.
He finished his college career with 100 receptions for 1,442 yards and 11 touchdowns before entering the NFL Draft.
A former three-star recruit in the class of 2019, he was the No. 582 overall player in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The Magnolia, Texas native also ranked as the No. 105 wide receiver and No. 82 player in his home state after playing at Magnolia High School.

Browns add wideout Marquise Goodwin for 2023
Marquise Goodwin signed with the Cleveland Browns in free agency last month on a one-year deal.
Goodwin spent the 2022 season with the Seattle Seahawks, where he had 387 receiving yards and tied his career high of four touchdowns. He has bounced around the league during his career, starting with the Buffalo Bills before stints with the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears.
On the whole, Goodwin has 3,023 yards and 18 touchdowns to his name during his nine-year career. He opted out of the 2020 COVID-19 season.
The Bills drafted Goodwin in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft after a career at Texas, where he ran track and played football.
With the 2023 NFL Draft coming up, the Browns have eight picks to boost the roster. Although they don’t have a first-round selection or second-round selection, they do have two third-round picks.
