The Browns will have a fascinating decision to make during the 2025 NFL Draft. The team’s general manager Andrew Berry will have to decide between taking a quarterback with the No. 2 overall selection, or bringing a blue-chip prospect like pass-rusher Abdul Carter or two-way star Travis Hunter to Cleveland.

While the Browns inked Myles Garrett to a gigantic extension this offseason, the idea of adding Carter to the fold and creating a phenomenal duo is something that’s intriguing to Cleveland fans and their front office. However, an injury Carter has been dealing with — a stress reaction in his foot — has thrown a wrench into things, and many are wondering if it’ll scare off some of the prospective teams in the top five of the draft.

Fear not, Browns fans. According to ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi, Berry is far from concerned about the ailment for the former Penn State star. He’s certainly not out of the question at No. 2 overall: “Not going to be prohibitive to a long, successful career,” Berry proclaimed.

For fans of Carter in Cleveland, that’s a huge sigh of relief. Does it mean they’ll draft the pass rusher? No, but he’ll remain an option moving forward in the process. With one of Carter or Hunter guaranteed to be there at No. 2, along with at least one of the top two quarterback prospects, it’s not going to be an easy decision for the Browns come time to turn in their draft card in Green Bay on April 24.

This past season, Carter led the nation with 23.5 tackles for loss while totaling 68 tackles and 12.0 sacks while helping Penn State to a national semifinal. He has generated buzz as one of the top prospects on the board in this year’s NFL Draft, and there’s even speculation he could go No. 1 overall. The Browns would be elated to take him at No. 2 though.

Last week, Carter sat down for a dinner with the Browns. All went well apparently, and it’s evident he wouldn’t mind ending up in Cleveland: “I feel like the dinner went well,” Carter said, via The Athletic. “It was their first time meeting my family and them really getting to see who I come from and where I come from. I’ve talked with the Browns a few times, but last night was good.”

All told, Abdul Carter hasn’t been shy about wanting to be picked first overall, but going No. 2 to Cleveland would be a nice consolation prize. The Browns would love to have him, and the wreckage he could create with Myles Garrett could be incredible. We’ll see where he ends up in a couple of weeks.
