Cleveland Browns HC Kevin Stefanski delivered game ball from Titans win to Nick Chubb
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski showed some serious respect to injured running back Nick Chubb following Sunday’s impressive win over the Titans. He hand-delivered the game ball to the star after the game.
Mary Kay Cabot reported that Stefanski drove the game ball to Chubb, who was injured in last week’s game against the Steelers. The running back will miss the remainder of the year because of the gruesome injury.
Cleveland improved to 2-1 on the season with the win. The Browns got the victory despite only rushing for 78 yards on 31 carries. Quarterback Deshaun Watson threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns while completing 27-of-33 passes.
Chubb suffered a gruesome injury in Cleveland’s 26-22 loss to Pittsburgh in Week 2. Because of the severity, some thought the running back’s career could be in jeopardy. However, there could be some good news.
Per NFL.com, an MRI revealed that Chubb has a great chance to return to full strength and be able to play again. Considering how ugly the injury looked, that’s an optimistic outlook.
Chubb was the team’s leading rusher through two games, totaling 170 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. He also had 21 yards on four catches.
Delivering the game ball to Chubb is a really cool move from Stefanski. The running back has played a critical role for Cleveland since he was selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s a four-time Pro Bowl selection (2019-22) and earned second-team All-Pro honors last fall.

For his career, Chubb has piled up 6,511 yards and 48 touchdowns on the ground. He’s added 1,011 receiving yards and four additional scores. Chubb has eclipsed 1,000 yards in every year but his rookie season (2018). That year, he came up four yards short, totaling 996 yards on the ground.
Following Chubb’s injury against Pittsburgh, Stefanski said everyone felt for Chubb and the situation.
“We feel for the person,” Stefanski said. “He’s a great football player, as we know, but he’s an even better person. We will support him every step along the way.”
Defensive end Myles Garrett also had an emotional response to Chubb’s injury.
“It f—ing hurts,” Garret said, via the team website. “That’s our brother. That’s my brother, been together for a long time. It’s a blow for the whole team. We don’t want his injury to be in vain. We gotta push on. That’s what he would want us to do, and if he had any choice in the matter, that’s what he would do. So, just got to continue to fight and use it as motivation.”
