WATCH: Ronnie Harrison ejected for pushing Chiefs coach

Cleveland safety Ronnie Harrison has been ejected in the opening quarter of the Browns season opener. The fourth-year NFL player got into sideline scuffle near the Kansas City sideline, as Greg Lewis tried to get Harrison off of Clyde Edwards-Helaire by pushing the Browns defender.

Harrison was then ejected for what looked like trying to push or throw a punch at a Chiefs coach. Kansas City and Cleveland met in the playoffs last season in an AFC Divisional matchup, a 22-17 win for the Chiefs.

An Alabama product, the defensive back played three seasons at Alabama before being drafted in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville. He played two seasons with the Jaguars before being traded to the Browns at the start of last season.

In his first three seasons in the NFL, he has 141 total tackles with 19 pass breakups, four interceptions and a fumble receovery, including a touchdown return. In Week Seven against the Bengals, Harrison led the the Browns with nine tackles (six solo), sacked Joe Burrow once and recovered a fumble lost by Burrow during the 37–34 win.

Ranked as one of the top safety prospects in his draft class, he tallied seven career interceptions in his college career.

Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is playing for a contract extension

Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns have not engaged in any talk of a contract extension this offseason. Instead, the former Oklahoma quarterback is betting on himself to perform at a high level and earn a bigger extension next offseason. 

The Browns are coming off of an 11-5 season and advanced to the Divisional round of the AFC playoffs. They lost in a close game against the Kansas City Chiefs, 22-17. Many believe the team enters this season with an opportunity to make the Super Bowl, thanks to Mayfield and the electric offense. 

With receivers Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. as well as running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, Mayfield has playmakers all around him. 

The move is strategic on both sides. It gives the Browns more time to evaluate Mayfield’s talent before pulling the trigger on a huge deal. However, if Mayfield delivers and takes the Browns deep in the playoffs, he will have more room to negotiate.
