Cleveland Browns select Oklahoma wide receiver Mike Woods in 2022 NFL Draft

The Cleveland Browns selected Oklahoma wide receiver Mike Woods, who starred his career with the Arkansas Razorbacks, with the No. 202 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. After establishing himself as one of the best wide receivers in the SEC, he made the switch to work with Lincoln Riley in 2021.

Mike Woods, at 6-foot-1, 203-pounds with great production, finished his college career with 100 receptions for 1,442 yards and 11 touchdowns before entering the NFL Draft.

A former three-star recruit in the class of 2019, he was the No. 582 overall player in the nation per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. The Magnolia, Texas native also ranked as the No. 105 wide receiver and No. 82 player in his home state after playing at Magnolia High School.

NFL draft analysts on Mike Woods

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein broke down what Mike Woods can bring to the NFL in his recent scout of the wide receiver’s draft profile. The analyst compared the Oklahoma product to become an undrafted free agent, but someone took a shot at landed him late.

The NFL.com scout pointed out that while his combine numbers did not meet expectations, his film and on-field production leave many excited for the future.

“Arkansas transfer with just a single season in Lincoln Riley’s passing game,” wrote Zierlein. “Woods is a tight-hipped receiver with below-average bend that affects his route running and keeps his work on a vertical plane. He has decent build-up speed and showed improved hands in 2021, but is unlikely to ever be considered a catch winner. Woods has a shot to compete for a practice squad spot but lacks play traits that stand out for the position.”
