Clint Bowyer fumes over issues with his truck during NASCAR return at Nashville

Clint Bowyer is a little on edge in his NASCAR return. Things are not going according to plan for the retired racecar driver. Nashville Superspeedway has been kind to Bowyer in the past, but early tonight? Not so much.
During his NASCAR Cup Series career, Clint Bowyer was a firey racer. He was definitely not one to be quiet on the radio, that’s for sure. His usual personality on the radio has not gone anywhere, by the way.
With issues as far as comfort goes in his truck, being able to gas it up, etc., it’s hard. Bowyer doesn’t like it. He doesn’t like how others are racing him, either.
He even had an attitude for the FOX booth.
Clint Bowyer had a solid first stage. He ran in the top-10 and held his own against the young drivers as he learned what the truck had for him. The good news in the first stage would end as soon as he got onto pit road, though.
Spire Motorsports has great equipment. But that equipment has to be not messed up in order to race well. Bowyer got put in a bad position and paid the price for it in Stage 2. There are times when you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, especially in these Truck Series races.

For Clint Bowyer, that lesson was learned quickly in Stage 2.
Clint Bowyer slams into Chase Prudy on Stage 2 restart
As the second stage was beginning, the field was stacked up. Whenever the leaders wait to go later in the restart zone than normal, drivers get antsy. These young drivers don’t react as well as Cup Series drivers. So, when you see the leaders do something unusual, there are problems further back.
Chase Purdy went to take off, he didn’t get a great launch, and that is when hell broke loose. Bowyer slammed into the back of Purdy’s No. 77 truck. Then there was a ripple effect behind the two drivers. Trucks up, down, in the grass, wherever they could go to avoid wrecking.
Unfortunately, Bowyer was involved. Bowyer ran top-10 in the first stage. Then he lost spots on pit road. After that, he was running into the rear of Purdy’s truck and cussing up a storm once again.
If Clint Bowyer was upset before, he’s going to be inconsolable after this. Just let him say what he has to say and get the truck to the end of the race. That is all that his team can do at this point. So much for Kyle Larson’s pick…
