Now with his third pole award of the season, Cole Custer will get us started off in the NASCAR Tennessee Lottery 250 at Nashville. Custer is hoping to get his second win of the season and get to performing how many expected him to this season. He was in the Cup Series just a year ago. Now, he plans on showing out in the Xfinity Series whenever he can.

With one win under his belt, the floodgates could be open now. We have seen it with Carson Hocevar in the Truck Series. You get that first win of the year and everything gets easier. Custer had to fight off some Cup Series talent to earn this pole award.

Even with 2022 Xfinity Series champion Ty Gibbs in the field, Custer was able to get around the superspeedway faster than anyone else.

Cole Custer will be joined by Chandler Smith on the front row. With all of the frustrations that Custer has had this season, getting this pole is a big deal. Now he just needs another strong race on Saturday.

Coming into the race, Custer sits fourth in the point standings. He is locked into the playoffs with his win at Portland. However, winning that regular season championship is a big deal. The playoff points bonus is basically worth three race wins.

Cole Custer leading field to green in Nashville

Before Cole Custer was demoted to the Xfinity Series, he was in the 41 that Ryan Preece drives now. Drivers don’t like to be demoted. When you get in the Cup Series, you don’t know how long it will last.

However, Stewart-Haas Racing has not given up on Custer yet. While he didn’t cut it at the top level, the Xfinity Series is where he can thrive. Custer should ideally be a championship threat every season he is in the series.

While things didn’t get started strong in 2023, Custer is turning it around. Three pole awards and a win on the season have him sitting pretty well right now. He will lead the field to green in Nashville and have a chance to dominate the day if his car is capable.

Will Cole Custer be able to pull off his second win of the season?
