Colin Kaepernick won’t give up at a chance to return to the NFL as he is reportedly training and pushing for a comeback in the league, per TMZ Sports.

Kaepernick last played in the league in 2016 for the San Francisco 49ers. At the time, he was a very controversial figure due to kneeling during the national anthem. He opened up on his stance against police brutality, and eventually, myriad political issues.

He hasn’t played since but is once again telling NFL teams he’s open for business.

“We just gotta get one of these team owners to open up,” Kaepernick said.

The former quarterback previously said he’s been blackballed by teams in the league due to his stances taken eight seasons ago. But, Kaepernick is adamant he can still play and it’s not the first time he’s tried to come back.

His last formal workout came in 2022 when he threw passes around for the Las Vegas Raiders. However, he left un-signed.

“(This) would be a major moment, a major accomplishment for me,” Kaepernick said. “I think I could bring a lot to a team and help them win a championship.”

Kaepernick also threw at the University of Michigan back in 2022, reuniting his former coach Jim Harbaugh. The latter coached the QB in San Francisco.

Kaepernick threw passes at halftime of Michigan’s spring game, showcasing his throwing abilities despite zero game action in six years (at the time).

Playing in the NFL for six seasons, Kaepernick was at the peak of his powers in 2012. After taking over for an injured Alex Smith, Kaepernick went on a tear as an electrifying dual threat quarterback.

He led the 49ers to Super Bowl XLVII against the Baltimore Ravens, although they lost 34-31. Kaepernick had another legendary performance in 2013, beating the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round.

He led San Francisco back to the NFC Championship Game but fell short to the Seattle Seahawks. Despite signing a six-year contract extension in 2014, Kaepernick’s career wasn’t the same and Harbaugh left for Michigan following the season.

Kaepernick finished his NFL career with 12,271 yards, 72 touchdowns, 30 interceptions, a 59.8% completion percentage, 2,300 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns.
