The college basketball regular season is rapidly approaching its end. With that, many people are starting to turn their attention to the postseason tournaments, including March Madness and the race for the 2024 National Championship.

At this point in the season, there are several teams that have separated themselves from the pack as the top-tier teams in the game. Just behind them is a large group of contenders that have very viable paths to a national championship. Now, with such little time left, all of those teams are looking to build momentum for their final push.

With all that being said, here are the teams that currently have the best odds to win the college basketball National Championship in 2024, according to FanDuel:

UConn +550

After winning the National championship last season, UConn easily could have taken a step back for the 2023-24 season. The Huskies haven’t, though, becoming one of the best teams in college basketball again. Now, it looks like UConn is on its way to a top seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The Huskies still have three regular season games remaining. The most interesting of those games is going to be against Marquette on the road. UConn won their first meeting by 28 points and another win there would give the Huskies tons of momentum heading into the Big East Tournament.

Houston +700

The Houston Cougars have been one of the best teams in the Big 12 all season. Now, the Cougars are trying to hold onto a small lead in the conference standings with three games left. That includes a chance to get revenge on Kansas, who beat Houston at the start of February.

All season long, the calling card for Houston has been its defense, which is something that translates well in March. That’s going to make the Cougars one of the scariest teams to see on the schedule moving both through the conference tournament and into the NCAA Tournament.

Purdue +750

Purdue is a team that is led by its center, Zach Edey. He dominates the middle for the Boilermakers and is a candidate to be the National Player of the Year in college basketball. However, it would be unfair to say he’s all Purdue has given the depth of this roster.

At this point in the season, Purdue has a fairly comfortable lead in the Big Ten standings. With that said, nothing is decided yet and the Boilermakers still have to play Illinois head-to-head. That game could prove huge heading into the conference tournament.

Arizona +1300

Arizona has emerged as the best college basketball team in the Pac-12 this regular season, and it would take at least one upset for Arizona to not win the Pac-12 this regular season. With that, the Wildcats have put themselves in an excellent position to win in March.

Since losing to Washington State, Arizona has won two games in convincing fashion. Including the loss to Washington State, Arizona has won eight of its last nine games. In those eight wins, only two have been within 10 points. This has been a dominant Wildcats team.

Tennessee +1300

For now, the Tennessee Volunteers have the best odds to win a national championship out of the SEC. However, they’re not alone at the top of the conference regular season standings, with Alabama sharing a piece of that top spot in the rankings. Luckily, the two play in what is going to be one of the most anticipated basketball games in SEC play this season.

It’s a tough schedule to close out the regular season for Tennessee, playing three teams currently ranked. That’s going to help battle test the Volunteers ahead of March Madness. It will also give Tennessee a chance to build up momentum for a run.

North Carolina +2000

North Carolina is entering March with some of the best experience in the country. Because of that experience, it probably shouldn’t be a surprise how good the odds are that the Tar Heels win the national championship each season. At the same time, the Tar Heels have been under the radar to an extent.

For now, North Carolina has a one-game lead over rival Duke to win the ACC. Those two rivals are getting set to meet on the court again to end the season too, making it look like the regular season is going to come down to the last game.

Marquette +2000

Marquette has been one of the best teams in the country this season. However, even in the Big East, Marquette has been overshadowed by UConn at times. That got exacerbated by the blowout loss that Marquette suffered at UConn’s hands.

With all of that being said, Marquette has been dominant this season. This is an excellent team that has a good chance to make a deep run in March. They even have a chance to get revenge against UConn for that loss in an upcoming game.

Auburn +2000

The SEC has been one of the best basketball conferences this season. Because of that, Auburn is one of the teams in the country with the best shot to win a national championship. At the same time, the Tigers are only in a tie for fourth in the conference standings following a loss to Tennessee.

With three games left, there is still time for those standings to change. However, more important is going to be building momentum for the tournaments in March. That starts with a tough game against Mississippi State.

Duke +2200

It’s never a surprise to see Duke considered one of the favorites to win the National Championship in college basketball. That’s true this season as it is in any others, with the Blue Devils looking to jump rival North Carolina in the ACC standings.

The Blue Devils survived a scare when Kyle Filipowski was injured during a court storming incident against Wake Forest. Luckily, despite suffering an injury when fans collided with him, Filipowski was able to return to the court for Duke. So, the Blue Devils won’t have to go into this final stretch shorthanded.

Iowa State +2200

One very under-the-radar team this season has been Iowa State. The Cyclones are, perhaps, overshadowed by more traditional basketball brands in the Big 12. However, it’s been an excellent season for Iowa State basketball and they’re a legitimate championship contender.

Iowa State is currently second in the Big 12 standings and still has a shot to win the conference during the regular season with an 11-4 conference record. The Cyclones have won six of their last seven games, with the only loss during that stretch coming against Houston. With three games remaining, Iowa State could easily make a push heading into March.
