College GameDay podcast makes picks for Georgia at Ole Miss, marquee Week 11 games
Week 11 is upon us and with it brings some exciting matchups from across multiple conferences — many of which have conference championship and College Football Playoff implications along with it.
Heading into game week, the ESPN College GameDay Podcast crew including Rece Davis, Pete Thamel and Stanford Steve made their betting picks for another exciting week in college football.
Alabama at LSU
Rece Davis: Alabama -3
Pete Thamel: LSU +3 (and outright)
Stanford Steve: LSU +3
The Crimson Tide’s road trip to Death Valley proves to be the headlining matchup for Week 11’s slate — and the stakes couldn’t be any higher. Both programs have two losses already this season, meaning the loser will effectively have their College Football Playoff hopes squashed while the victor continues on for a potential at-large bid into the 12-team race.
Georgia at Ole Miss
Rece Davis: Georgia -2.5
Pete Thamel: Georgia -2.5
Stanford Steve: Georgia -2.5
Much like Alabama and LSU, a loss sends Ole Miss completely out of the College Football Playoff conversation. A victory firmly slots them back in the conversation, as that would be one of the best wins in the country for any team this season. A win for Georgia would continue the Bulldogs’ path to the SEC Championship and a first-round bye in the playoff.
Iowa State at Kansas
Rece Davis: Iowa State -3
Pete Thamel: Kansas +3 (and outright)
Stanford Steve: Iowa State -3
Iowa State can’t afford to lose another game during the regular season if it wants to find itself in the Big 12 Championship game. Meanwhile, Kansas has to win out to make it to a bowl game. It’s a must-win matchup for both parties in Week 11.

South Carolina at Vanderbilt
Rece Davis: South Carolina -3.5
Pete Thamel: South Carolina -3.5
Stanford Steve: Vanderbilt +3.5
Vanderbilt became bowl eligible for the first time since 2018 after securing its sixth win of the season its last time out. Meanwhile, a victory on Saturday would make South Carolina bowl eligible for the third time in four seasons under head coach Shane Beamer.
Colorado at Texas Tech
Rece Davis: Colorado -3.5
Pete Thamel: Colorado -3.5
Stanford Steve: Texas Tech +3.5
While Iowa State fans are going to be worried about their own game, they’ll also have an eye on Colorado and Texas Tech as the outcome will massively effect the top of Big 12 title race. However, Colorado has a chance to shake up the College Football Playoff race as well if the Buffs are able to win out in the regular season.
Iowa at UCLA
Rece Davis: UCLA +6 (and outright)
Pete Thamel: Iowa -6
Stanford Steve: Iowa -6
In Friday night’s marquee matchup, Iowa travels halfway across the country to take on UCLA in a game that has only happened nine other times in history. The Bruins are still searching for their first conference win since joining the Big Ten, while Iowa is looking to complete a third 10-win season in four years under head coach Kirk Ferentz. However, the Hawkeyes must win out, including their bowl game, if they want that to happen.
Miami at Georgia Tech
Rece Davis: Georgia Tech +11
Pete Thamel: Georgia Tech +11
Stanford Steve: Georgia Tech +11
Miami’s defense doesn’t have the GameDay crew very confident in the ‘Canes ability to cover. However, Cam Ward and Miami’s high-powered offense has been able to make up for any defensive woes and have the ‘Canes sitting undefeated with an ACC title game appearing to be in their future.
