Following the 34-23 victory over the Bearcats, Hunter was not only named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week but was also awarded Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors as well. He is the first player to earn both titles in the same week — another feather in the cap of Hunter as he continues his path to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist.
On the offensive end, Hunter caught nine passes for 153 yards and a pair of touchdowns while defensively logging four pass breakups and a pair of tackles. Coach Prime said after the game that he expects this sort of performance from Hunter on a weekly basis — which could prove troublesome to the Red Raiders on Saturday.
Still, Texas Tech is 4-1 at home this season, and Saturday’s matchup against Colorado is the last chance the Red Raiders have to play in a ranked matchup this season while the Buffs are looking to cruise past them on their way to a potential Big 12 Championship game berth.
