With Caitlin Clark being the newest member of the Indiana Fever, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson sent a message to her. After the Fever selected Clark at No. 1 overall in the WNBA Draft. Richardson went to social media to welcome her to the city and issued a challenge.

“Welcome to Indy, [Caitlin Clark],” Richardson wrote on X. “Might need 1v1???” While Richardson is known for his football skills, he can hold his own on the basketball court. In 2022, videos were published on social media that showed the former Florida Gators quarterback dunking from the free-throw line.

Clark is not known for dunking but is one of the most dangerous shooters in basketball, which would make it challenging for Richardson to take her down. Clark’s sharp shooting was a big reason she led the Iowa Hawkeyes to two consecutive national championship appearances.

Caitlin Clark wants kids to look up to her

Before the draft, Clark appeared on the TODAY show and talked about making an impact on the kids who watch her play. “The people I idolized in my life were, you know, either professional women’s basketball players, professional soccer players, and that’s what I wanted to be growing up,” Clark said. “And I think, you know, understanding how big of an impact that can have on a young girl’s life is super important.”

And once Clark was drafted, she revealed how her game would translate to the WNBA. “I think the biggest thing is my passing, and I think that’s kind of what people overlooked at times in college,” Clark said. “People just love the scoring so much, and don’t get me wrong I love shooting the ball, but I think that’s the biggest thing.”

As Clark is getting ready to make her WNBA debut, Richardson is looking to make an impact with the Colts after his rookie season was cut short due to shoulder surgery. He only played in four games in 2023 before he was sidelined for the rest of the year.

“He’s making great progress,“ Colts coach Shane Steichen said in March. “You guys have seen, obviously, through social media, he’s throwing. I’m not going to put a timetable on his return, but he’s in great spirits, feeling good. Obviously, going through stuff, but he’s making really, really good progress.”
