Commanders QB Jayden Daniels prayed with Terrion Arnold after injury to Lions CB Amik Robertson
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels showed class during the playoff game on Saturday night by praying with Terrion Arnold after Detroit Lions cornerback Amik Robertson suffered an injury. Arnold spoke to reporters about what Daniels did as the Lions staff looked at Robertson.
“I thought it was kind of cool. When I was praying, Jayden came right there are we prayed over him together,” Terrion Arnold told reporters on Sunday. “It’s one of those things where it’s bigger than football.”
Amik Robertson broke his arm in the Lions’ 45-31 defeat against the Commanders in the Divisional Round playoff game. The injury came on the second snap after Robertson tackled Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin. After the game Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Robertson will have surgery on his arm Sunday.
The injury to Robertson was one of the many issues for the Lions on Saturday night. A big reason Detroit lost is the five turnovers the team committed. The Lions entered the playoffs as the top team in the NFC and looked poised to play in their first Super Bowl in franchise history. But Jayden Daniels and the rest of the Commanders had other plans, recording 481 yards of offense in the victory.

Jayden Daniels will ‘always believe’ in the Commanders
“He just has a different poise about him than most and he’s a rare competitor,” Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said about Daniels, per Pro Football Talk. “There’s no doubt about that. But in those moments — if he was a basketball player, he’d want the last shot. As a ballplayer, he wants the ball in his hands to make the difference and he makes great decisions with the football. That takes real mindfulness.”
“I always believe,” Daniels said per NFL.com. “I always believe that we could achieve more than what people give us credit for, but you gotta go out there putting in work, you gotta go out there and work daily, get better each and every day. Just put your head down and grind, and by the time of the season, you look up and you might be in a position like this.”
Daniels will continue his magical rookie season next week when the Commanders face the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship. Washington is looking to reach the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1991 season.
