Commanders WR Noah Brown reacts to Tyrique Stevenson’s blunder on Hail Mary
Washington Commanders wide receiver Noah Brown opened up about catching the Hail Mary touchdown pass from Jayden Daniels that gave the team the win over the Chicago Bears. While appearing on Good Morning Football, Brown was asked by Kyle Brandt if he saw Bears defensive back Tyrique Stevenson talking to the fans as he was running down the field.
“Yeah, I know it’s become a huge thing. I didn’t see it,” Brown said. “…A Hail Mary is a super long play. I kind of had my head down trying to get down to the end zone. So it’s not something I saw until after the game. I’m just glad to come out with a win. I’m not going to help crucify the guy. I know it’s been all over the internet. It’s a fortunate situation for us.”
Brown also talked about what was going through his mind when he made the catch. “The goal is to get into the endzone, box out your defender,” he said. “We got one guy designated to jump and three designated for the tip. As the ball’s coming down, I’m trying to box my guy out. He gets in front of me, but I see the flight of the ball. It’s a little bit past where the group is at. The one guy got a hand on it, and it did just fall right into my hands.”
Tyrique Stevenson tipped the ball in the air, and Brown caught it as he was behind the Bears defender and several other players. After the game, Stevenson issued an apology to his teammates for the mistake he made.

More on Noah Brown’s Hail Mary TD catch
“Honestly, I don’t I feel like I should probably share what intimate side of me that I shared with the guys because I know I let them down and those guys hold me to a higher standard such as everybody in this building,” Stevenson said, per ESPN. “But the brief message is I apologize to the boys for letting them down. I let the moment get too big, and it’s something that can never happen again and won’t ever happen again.”
Brown finished the game with three receptions for 73 yards and one score. Through five games this season, Brown, who is in his first season with the Commanders, has caught 17 passes for 258 yards and one touchdown.
