Comparing Joe Burrow, Matt Stafford college stats ahead of Super Bowl 56

The Los Angeles Rams versus Cincinnati Bengals Super Bowl 56 matchup pits two prolific former SEC quarterbacks against one another on Sunday. Joe Burrow is trying to snag his first Super Bowl in his second year in the NFL. Matthew Stafford is trying to finally reach the peak of the game after 12 seasons of letdowns in Detroit.
Looking back on the elite quarterbacks’ collegiate careers, it’s hard to argue against Joe Burrow’s dominance based on the statistics. Though both went No. 1 overall, Burrow’s accuracy numbers showed how successful he’d be in the NFL. It was his 2019 season that really puts him ahead of his elder Rams opponent.
The pride of Cincinnati had 8,852 passing yards, 78 touchdowns and just 11 touchdowns with two seasons as a starter at LSU (2018-19).
Meanwhile, Stafford posted 7,731 passing yards, 564 completed passes, 51 touchdown passes and 33 interceptions over three seasons at Georgia between 2006-08.
Stafford finished his three-year Georgia career with several Bulldog records in hand. However, Joe Burrow won the national title and Heisman Trophy in an unbelievable undefeated season with LSU in 2019.
