Report: Connor Williams to sign 1-year, $6 million contract with Seattle Seahawks
Former Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys center Connor Williams is set to sign with the Seattle Seahawks, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. He is in agreement on a one-year contract worth up to $6 million, including $3 million guaranteed.
Williams entered free agency as he worked his way back from a torn ACL, which he suffered in Week 14 last season. The former Texas standout was in the final year of a two-year, $14 million deal with Miami after spending the first three years of his career in Dallas.
Williams worked out with the Seahawks last month and also visited the Baltimore Ravens. The sense was he would decide between the two franchises, and it appears he’s made the call.
The timing of Williams’ injury could impact his start to the 2024 season. However, his agent Drew Rosenhaus previously indicated Williams would be able to return in time for the year to begin.
“Connor has had a remarkable recovery, nothing short of miraculous,” Rosenhaus said in an interview with WSVN in late June. “Really looking good for the start of the season. There’s a lot of teams interested in him. But I’m just delighted for Connor. Did not anticipate him going to training camp with the team and felt like it might be something during the season before he played, but now he’s done an awesome job and we’re gonna see Connor Williams in someone’s training camp.”

Rosenhouse then doubled down on that statement earlier this week. He said Williams will be ready for the season opener, no matter what team signed him in free agency.
“He’s healthy. He’s going to be able to play in the first game,” Rosenhaus said. “It is the most amazing recovery I have ever seen in my career.”
The Cowboys selected Williams in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft after a standout career at Texas. He was a first team All-Big 12 selection in 2016 as he became a consensus All-American at the guard position. He initially played guard with the Cowboys, but made the shift to center as his NFL career went along.
Seattle is coming off a 9-8 record in 2023 as Geno Smith’s breakout continued. The Seahawks made changes, though, notably with Mike Macdonald now in as head coach and Ryan Grubb coming in as offensive coordinator. Grubb played a crucial role at the collegiate level at Washington, where he helped develop Michael Penix Jr. under former head coach Kalen DeBoer.
