The brightest rising star in NASCAR, Connor Zilisch, has a new sponsor ahead of his Xfinity Series debut this weekend at Watkins Glen International. Red Bull is joining the young driver and he is now an official Red Bull athlete.

Connor Zilisch joins his fellow Trackhouse Racing teammate, Shane van Gisbergen under the Red Bull umbrella. The energy drink brand will be on Zilisch’s helmet much like it has been for SVG this year.

While this is a new development, it has to make you wonder if there is a potential for Red Bull to rejoin NASCAR as a primary sponsor in the future. With SVG and Zilisch, they have two major stars to rocket themselves back into the sport.

“So stoked to be joining the Red Bull family as a Red Bull athlete!” Zilisch wrote on social media. “This has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid and I couldn’t be more pumped. Let’s go!!!”

Connor Zilisch has taken the stock car racing world by storm. Everyone was introduced to him in IMSA this season in sports cars, though. A road course racer by background, Zilisch won the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring this season.

Zilisch was P4 in his Truck Series debut, setting the qualifying record in the process. Then he went on to prove he knew his way around an oval as well. ARCA wins at Dover, Flat Rock, Iowa, IRP, and Michigan as well as a CARS Tour Late Model Stock win at Hickory. He’s the real deal, folks.

Again, the Red Bull sponsorship is a big deal. It was a big deal when it was just SVG. Now that Connor Zilisch has joined, it’s starting to become a very big deal for Trackhouse Racing.

If Trackhouse can bring a major sponsor like Red Bull back into NASCAR, it would be one of their biggest accomplishments. Everyone knows that the brand tried to make their own way in the sport with Red Bull Racing.

That experiment didn’t work. Since 2011, Red Bull has been out of the game. With a driver like Shane van Gisbergen who can win now in the Cup Series, and a young superstar like Zilisch, this could be the time to reenter NASCAR, full force.

If we get a Red Bull paint scheme out of this new partnership, I will be more than excited. Just the positive media it would have for NASCAR would be enough. Is Connor Zilisch the one to bring them back?
