Even though it is the offseason, NASCAR drivers Connor Zilisch and Riley Herbst are still finding ways to start “beef.” A little Thanksgiving banter for this holiday weekend.

Next year, both Connor Zilisch and Riley Herbst are getting big upgrades. Zilisch will take on the Xfinity Series full-time in his rookie campaign with JR Motorsports. Herbst is prepared to take on his first full-time season in the Cup Series with 23XI Racing.

Every year for Thanksgiving there are debates over food. What is the best side? Dessert? And, is turkey really all that it is cut out to be?

Riley Herbst laid down the gauntlet before Thanksgiving by saying the holiday was lacking in the good food department. He then showed off his Thanksgiving tacos, which caused Connor Zilisch to speak up.

In response, Herbst took a jab at Zilisch’s young age. That beer should be right on schedule for July 2027. The exchange even caught Noah Gragson’s eye.

Zilisch made sure to get the last word, though. To be completely transparent, I did enjoy a nice beef tenderloin on Thanksgiving…with turkey. We can have it all, folks, that’s the spirit of the holiday!

So, what side are you on?

Connor Zilisch could be next big thing in NASCAR

Now, we can’t talk about Connor Zilisch without talking about the weighty expectations that he carries. The kid won in his Xfinity Series debut at Watkins Glen in a gutsy performance that required intense fuel saving on multiple restarts.

Oh, sure, you might say, he can win on a road course. We’ve seen Shane van Gisbergen win in his Cup Series debut at the Chicago Street Course. What about ovals, where NASCAR is predominantly focused?

Well finishes of P4 at Kansas and Phoenix in the Xfinity Series more or less answer that as well. Zilisch is the best prospect since at least Ty Gibbs and if we’re being honest, probably going further back than that.

Trackhouse Racing locked Connor Zilisch down last year. He has a Red Bull sponsorship. There is a lot of good stuff happening with Zilisch, and he’s going to bring that talent and marketability to the Xfinity Series in 2025.
