Conor McGregor teased the MMA and UFC world once again with his eagerness for his next fight, whenever that is.

The former two-weight champion hasn’t fought since July 10, 2021, a TKO doctor stoppage loss to Dustin Poirier when he suffered a broken leg. So far, the anticipated fight coming up is against Michael Chandler, upon the conclusion of the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter.

McGregor and Chandler are the coaches, so generally they fight at the end of the season. Nothing’s been announced but McGregor said he’s prepared.

“I look forward to my upcoming fight,” McGregor wrote on Twitter. “I am well in preparation.”

There’s been a lot of issues with McGregor this summer, such as the sexual assault allegations taking place at Game 4 of the NBA Finals down in Miami.

McGregor’s attorney maintained her client’s innocence after numerous videos surfaced.

“While the claimant’s story has changed yet again,” Barbara R. Llanes said in a statement, “Our account of the evening has never changed. This video only reinforces our position. We look forward to the swift conclusion of the investigation.”

So with no update on the legal front or fighting front, McGregor appears to be in limbo. The UFC’s biggest superstar and draw would do immense numbers in a fight with Chandler. But until it’s signed on the dotted line, it’s a brutal wait for fans, or haters, of McGregor.

Conor McGregor promises great comeback

However, McGregor promised history when he makes his return to the octagon, potentially against Michael Chandler.

“You know, not only just a return Megan, the greatest return in combat sports,” McGregor told UFC reporter Megan Olivi. “This is going to be, you know, I’m gonna kick this guy in the head. He’s just taylor made for being kicked all over the place and that’s what I’m aiming for. I’m aiming to wrap this steel bar around the opponent.

“And you’re gonna see a visual of the leg hanging off and then you’re going to see a visual of the head hanging off. So I’m excited for it and motivated for it. Steady, making my way towards it.”

McGregor is 22-6 in his MMA career but lost three of his last four fights. Two were to Poirier and one was to Khabib Nurmagomedov for the UFC Lightweight Championship.

McGregor is a former two-weight champion in the promotion but only fought four times since November 12, 2016. He won his second belt over Eddie Alvarez and became the first to hold two belts at once.
