Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III recently saw their exhibition boxing match end in a brawl in the ring. That brawl started after the referee ended the match early due to the language being used by both boxers. Now, Irish fighter Conor McGregor has weighed in on the beef.

McGregor decided to get involved after Gotti tagged him on Instagram while calling out Mayweather after the fight.

“I back the Gotti’s. The war is on,” McGregor wrote in a now-deleted tweet.

Getting involved in a high-profile feud between boxers is right up McGregor’s alley. Jumping in and grabbing the spotlight, also known as promoting himself, made him as much a household name as his actual fighting ability did throughout the years. So, from that perspective, it makes sense he’d get involved in something that didn’t initially include him.

Besides that, McGregor and Mayweather fought in an iconic boxing match to see how the UFC fighter could do in a boxing ring. It turns out, not great. Still, the fight was profitable and there are even rumors of a second fight between the two. If that’s true, then this could be the beginning of a promotion for that eventual fight.

Of course, those are all rumors and should be treated as such.

It could be that McGregor just wanted to insert himself into a very real beef between Mayweather and Gotti.

Conor McGregor sent the Heat mascot to the hospital

During the NBA Finals, Conor McGregor and Burnie, the Miami Heat mascot jokingly fought on the court. There, it seemed like the joke went overboard and McGregor landed a couple of strong punches in a row, sending the person in the mascot costume to the hospital.

McGregor initially knocked the mascot over with a left to the face, before driving another left into the mascot’s head while laying on the ground. That second one is probably what led to the hospital visit.

The person who was in the costume has since been released. According to The Athletic, they were given pain medicine and sent home to recover. So, they should be fine in the long run.

After that, Dana White, the president of UFC, sounded off about the incident.

“What’s up with mascots wanting to get punched in the face by professional fighters? What do you expect? I mean, what are those mascot things made out of?” White said.

“Unless you’re like, the Golden Knights mascot – I don’t even know what the hell he wears, but I’m assuming it’s a metal helmet – I wouldn’t have professional fighters punching me in the face if I was a mascot. Doesn’t seem like the brightest thing in the world.”
