Conor McGregor sits courtside at BYU-Baylor game, receives huge ovation
It was a special night of basketball at BYU, with an excellent game against Baylor on display for one of sports’ most recognizable stars: Conor McGregor.
The UFC legend was present for the game on Tuesday night, sitting courtside near the baseline.
He got a huge ovation from the crowd when announced at the arena. Check it out below as he fist-pumps to the crowd and several fans rise to their feet.
Conor McGregor picked a good game to go to, as well.
BYU led for much of the contest but found itself in a dogfight with Baylor down the stretch in regulation. Baylor made some key plays and managed to tie the game in the waning moments. But before BYU got to overtime it got an agonizing look at a game-winner at the buzzer.
With 4.3 seconds left on the clock, BYU quickly passed up the floor and got the ball into the hands of a shooter, but the pass was late and the shot wasn’t launched before the buzzer. Unfortunately, it did go in, leaving fans to wonder what could have been had the operation gone a little quicker.

Nonetheless, Conor McGregor and the rest of the crowd were treated to a thrilling overtime segment, one in which the home team took the early lead and hung on.
Baylor cut it to 91-89 with 10.6 seconds left in overtime. A pair of free throws for BYU then went in, making it 93-89 with 6.3 seconds left, effectively squeezing the life out of the game.
Baylor finished with four players in double figures scoring, led by VJ Edgecombe with 28 and Robert Wright with 22. BYU was led in scoring by Kanon Catchings, who finished with 23 points in the contest.
The final score finished 93-89 in favor of BYU, so Conor McGregor left the arena happy.
