Reports emerged Monday afternoon that Green Bay Packers inside linebacker De’Vondre Campbell signed a 5 year, $50 million contract. Campbell will earn $16.25 million in year one, $21.5 million during the first two years and $32.25 million through the first three years.

A former fourth round pick out of Minnesota, Campbell was one of the biggest free agent signings in the league last offseason. The linebacker bet on himself with a one-year contract, and was named a First-team All-Pro. Now it seems Campbell has found a home and is cashing in with Green Bay for the long haul.

In his breakout season with the Packers, Campbell accumulated 132 total tackles, 2.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and two interceptions. The Packers have Super Bowl aspirations in 2022 following the re-signing of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Retaining Campbell is just one piece to the puzzle en route to championship glory.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, Rodgers confirmed that he is in fact returning to the Green Bay Packers, but he did make one thing clear in his post despite what has been reported: he has not agreed to a four-year, $200 million contract, as has been reported.

“Hey everyone, just wanted to clear some things up; YES I will be playing with the @packers next year, however, reports about me signing a contract are inaccurate, as are the supposed terms of the contract I “signed”. I’m very excited to be back #year18,” Rodgers wrote

Now that Rodgers has announced that he’ll be back in Green Bay for the 2022 season, Packers fans can take a breath. As far as his new contract details go, the quarterback has ended all speculation that – for now, at least.
