Contract details revealed for Christopher Allen, Denver Broncos following 2022 NFL Draft

Christopher Allen has realized his dream of making it to the NFL. The former Alabama pass rusher may not have been selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, but Allen signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent.

On Sunday, Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network revealed the contract details for Allen’s first foray into the NFL.

“Denver Broncos’ free agent deal for defensive end Christopher Allen includes $180,000 total guaranteed with $150,000 of his base salary guaranteed and $30,000 signing bonus, per a league source,” tweeted Wilson.

Evidently, the Broncos see some potential in Allen. Throughout his career at Alabama, the defensive end accumulated 61 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks over 34 career games.

Additionally, Allen was a four-star prospect in the class of 2019, and was listed as the nation’s No. 130 overall player, No. 14 linebacker and No. 5 player from the state of Louisiana, according to the On3 Consensus rankings.

Throughout his Alabama career, injuries were the biggest detriment to success for Christopher Allen. If he can stay healthy in Denver, perhaps he can finally realize the immense potential that he’s only scratched the surface of.

Moreover, Christopher Allen joins a crop of rookies for the Broncos that may look a little light compared to the rest of the league. It’s easy to see why, as Denver traded a majority of their high-value draft picks to acquire former Seattle Seahawks star quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Broncos first selection didn’t come until the end of the second round, when they drafted former Oklahoma star pass rusher Nik Bonitto. The former Sooners defensive end was projected anywhere from the middle of the first to the end of the second, so Denver got some solid value with their first pick.

Afterwards, the Broncos bolstered their offense, drafting tight end Greg Dulcich with the No. 80 overall selection in the third round out of UCLA. In addition to trading away multiple draft picks, Denver also sent former first round tight end Noah Fant to the Seahawks for Wilson, so Dulcich will be a big addition to their tight end room.
