Cooper Kupp placed on injured reserve due to hamstring injury
One of the NFL‘s top receivers will not play the first four weeks of the season. Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp has been placed on the injured reserve list.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news on Saturday. Kupp must be sidelined for a minimum of four games because of his status. Los Angeles opens the year against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
The Rams’ following three games are against the San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts.
Kupp’s 2022 campaign was cut short after nine games last year. Prior to the injury, he totaled 812 yards and six touchdowns on 75 catches.
In 2021, Kupp put up monster numbers in the Ram’s Super Bowl run. He hauled in 145 catches for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns. He added 33 catches for 478 yards and six touchdowns in the postseason.
For his efforts that season, Kupp was named the NFL Offensive MVP and Super Bowl LVI MVP. He also received the first Pro Bowl honor of his career.

It was reported earlier in the week that Kupp would be unavailable for the team’s season opener against Seattle. However, it’s new that he’s been placed on injured reserve.
“I would just say this, it’s trying to just figure out what’s going on with him,” McVay said about Kupp during media availability. “Again, I’m kind of speaking out of turn. I just know that we’re trying to open up every avenue in regards to figuring out what’s going on, why is he feeling some of the sensations and things like that in his hamstring. Is it soft tissue? Is there something nerve-wise? And I would be speaking out of turn.
“I think we’re really trying to be able to figure that out. He felt like he gained a lot of information, was able to do a couple day’s worth of treatment that was beneficial. But it wasn’t anything that’s like, OK, he’s going to be back right now. And we had a feeling that there could be a couple weeks that we need to just be able to take it a day at a time and then hopefully we’ll start to see some positive results as it relates to how he’s feeling.”
When Kupp left the lineup last season, Los Angeles’ offense took a nosedive. It could be a rough start for the Rams on that side of the football again with the receiver on the sideline.
