Cooper Rush sends farewell to Cowboys with emotional message, video

Former Dallas backup quarterback Cooper Rush penned an emotional farewell to the franchise on Wednesday evening. He wrote the message on his Instagram page. “From an undrafted rookie wearing No. 7 to an eight year veteran wearing No. 10, I appreciated every moment in a Cowboys uniform. Thank you Dallas for all of the love that you showed to me and family. I’m excited for the next chapter but forever grateful for the first one,” Rush wrote on his personal account.
Rush recently signed a two-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens, meaning his time with the Dallas Cowboys has come to an end for now.
More on Cooper Rush and his deal with Baltimore
Cooper Rush and the Baltimore Ravens have reached an agreement on a two-year contract worth up to $12.2 million per year, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler. Equity Sports CEO Chris Cabott negotiated the deal.
Rush took over as the Dallas Cowboys’ starting quarterback midway through the 2024 season after Dak Prescott went down with a season-ending injury. He threw for 1,844 yards, 12 touchdowns and five interceptions this past season.
He spent the first seven years of his NFL career in Dallas, where he played in 35 games for the Cowboys. Rush totaled 3,463 yards, 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions over that span, with most of his production coming in his final four seasons. Although, 2024 was his most productive.

2024 wasn’t his first 1,000-yard passing season. In 2022, Rush played in nine games for the Cowboys that season, completing 94 of his 162 passing attempts for 1,051 passing yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions.
Now, Rush heads to Baltimore to backup another star quarterback, this time playing behind former NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. Jackson is coming off the best season of his career statistically having thrown for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns and four interceptions while rushing for an addition 915 yards and four touchdowns.
The Ravens finished the 2024-25 regular season with a 12-5 record, winning the AFC North in the process. Baltimore finished its season in the AFC Divisional Round after losing to the Buffalo Bills 27-25. With Jackson leading the flock once more, the Ravens are expected to be right back in the mix this coming season.
