Corey Ballentine injury update: NBC sideline reporter reveals Packers DB's status
Green Bay cornerback Corey Ballentine suffered an apparent lower right-leg injury in the first quarter of the Packers’ showdown against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday. Ballentine limped off the field and entered the injury tent before heading back to the locker room.
Before leaving the game, Ballentine didn’t record a tackle or passes defended. The team initially announced he was questionable to return but later stated he was done for the night. Ballentine has six total tackles this season, along with one forced fumble.
This is Ballentine’s third season with the Packers. Last season was his best campaign in the NFL yet. Ballentine made 14 appearances for the Packers, including six starts. He notched 43 tackles, seven passes defended and an interception.
Ballentine hasn’t been nearly as productive this season. However, he isn’t one to give up when the tides turn against him. Ahead of the 2023 campaign, Ballentine was simply battling for a spot on the Packers’ roster. Only a few months later, he was the team’s starting cornerback.
“What I’ve learned in my football career is everything is a process,” Ballentine said. “You’ve got to work your way through the rough patches. I think that’s what I had to do – weather the storms.”

While those around him may have been stunned by the way Corey Ballentine capitalized on the opportunity, he never doubted himself.
“I already knew I could do it,” Ballentine said. “I feel like a lot of other people probably had doubts. Not necessarily in the building but people that weren’t familiar with me or my game were probably like, ‘Who is that?’
“My teammates have confidence in me, coaches, everyone here does, and I knew I could do it. It’s just I have to show everybody else that isn’t familiar with me that I can do it. … I’ve been here for a reason. I’m going on six years now. It wasn’t a confidence thing for me. It was just the opportunity.”
