Corey Heim wasn’t pleased with Carson Hocevar following their tiff during the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series finale.
Hocevar spun Heim with plenty of time remaining at Phoenix, effectively ending the former’s chance at the Truck Series title. While Hocevar felt terrible about it, that didn’t stop drivers and fans alike from panning the move, which he claimed was an accident.
Afterwards, Heim spoke with the media following the debacle, where he explained that it’s simply what drivers have come to expect from Hocevar.
“That’s just kind of what he does,” Heim said. “He’ll wreck you and apologize and then he’ll do it again. It’s not going to be the last time he does it. Certainly not the first time he’s done it. I’ve known him for a long time.”
“… Every guy on Sunday is going to see that and understand that they’re going to be racing against him like that.”
However, the story doesn’t end there. Heim retaliated as the race was coming to a close, wrecking Hocevar as he attempted to pass him up top, while the duo was back in the pack.
No only did he damage his own truck, he totaled Hocevar’s truck and Taylor Gray was also wrecked in the incident. Not only that, fellow title contender Grant Enfinger was driving away towards his first NASCAR title, as Ben Rhodes couldn’t catch him, and they had already decided to race it clean to the end. It completely changed the outlook of the race.

But Heim won’t say he wrecked Hocevar on purpose. He’s sticking to his story of simply spinning out when Hocevar was in the wrong place at the right time.
“(I) had a lot of right rear damage and was pretty much out-of-control free, so as soon as (Hocevar), really he was the third one on the outside and I about wrecked every time,” Heim said. “Then, by the time he finally got there, I just spun out.
“With him on my door, I lost all my sideforce and lost control. So super unfortunate.”
We’re sure Heim was very, very disappointed that his spin collected Hocevar as well, but it’s a shame it basically took the title out of Enfinger’s hands.
Nevertheless, there were storylines aplenty coming out of the Truck Series race, and it caused a ton of division between drivers and fans. Moving forward, we’re going to bet Corey Heim and Carson Hocevar won’t be exchanging Christmas cards any longer.
