When Corey Heim got hold of the lead late in this race, he was not going to let it go. He wins his second race of the NASCAR season in Las Vegas. This is Heim’s second win, but the first win this year he was the first one to cross the finish line.

Corey Heim started the year with a win at Daytona. That win was because Parker Kligerman got disqualified, though. Tonight, he went out and took the win from the rest of the field.

Grant Enfinger and Tanner Gray made moves late. Heim fought them off. Big time win down in Las Vegas.

Tyler Ankrum was strong early in this race. He had some contact and never recovered. Ankrum led 39 laps which would have been the best in the race. That is until in the last few laps, Heim passed him and led a total of 41.

This was another example of what Corey Heim does. Tricon Garage puts him in great trucks each week and he knows what to do with them. This race was a lot of fun, we got to watch veterans and newcomers race hard and put on a show.

Corey Day did not have the finish he wanted. However, it was great to see him try new things in a stock car for the first time. He kept pushing his limits and eventually, he found himself out of the race.

Day walked away with his first career Truck Series pole, and first NASCAR pole period. He has High Limit Racing tomorrow, too.

Corey Heim waits out the rain for Truck Series win

Last season, Corey Heim led the Truck Series with six wins. This year, he has two wins in the first three races. He is on pace to win a lot this year and I’m not sure there are many drivers who can stop him in this series.

Now there will be times he makes mistakes. His pit crew will make mistakes. There will be a wreck or two that he gets caught up in that was none of his doing. When the 11 truck has speed and a little clean air, forget about it.

There is a reason why 23XI Racing has him signed to a development deal. He is uber-talented and waiting for an opportunity. Last season, Heim made his Cup Series debut replacing an injured Erik Jones. He will have more Cup opportunities soon.

Tonight in Las Vegas, the rain was the main story. Corey Heim made sure that he wasn’t forgotten despite the bad weather coming into play. The Xfinity Series hits the track tomorrow for its race and the Cup Series will practice and qualify.
